How can access to a performance venue impact 250 students? By giving them a place to perform. The Atlanta Music Project (AMP) received funds from our A Place to Perform grant to support rental expenses at Sylvan Hills Middle School, where students performed five concerts in front of live audiences as a culmination of the weeks of tuition-free instruction received through the AMP Summer Series. Sylvan Hills Middle School is located roughly in the center of the five locations where AMP provides programming. Its proximity to the Oakland City MARTA station allows AMP students and audience members to attend performances using public transportation.

Atlanta Music Project's Summer Series is a three-week musical school and festival featuring recitals, chamber music and jazz, choral and orchestra concerts performed by AMP students, AMP teaching artists and special guests.

Founded in 2010, AMP’s mission is to empower underserved youth to realize their possibilities through music. It serves 300 students annually at five sites, providing them with instruments, world-class teaching artists, classes and numerous public performance opportunities.
